EQUINOX provides a unique affinity space for students to engage in high quality supplemental instruction, creating a personalized and supportive environment for learning. 

We interrupt the negative effects of cultural biases that students often experience in the classroom by reinforcing and capitalizing upon the positive effects of exposure to diverse teachers.

Having one black teacher in elementary school makes students of color significantly more likely to enroll in college.  In particular, black students who had just one black teacher by third grade were 13 percent more likely to enroll in college—and those who'd had two were 32 percent more likely (findings led by researchers from Johns Hopkins University and American University).
